Traditional doula care often depends on one person being educator, birth doula, advocate, newborn resource, and postpartum support—all while remaining available for unpredictable births.
We believed there could be another way.
Yes I Doula was built to combine the personal connection of doula care with the strength of a coordinated team. Prenatal doulas help families become informed and prepared. Birth doulas bring hospital experience and dedicated labor support. Postpartum doulas focus on recovery, feeding, newborn care, and helping families confidently adjust to life with their baby.
Each doula brings their strengths. Together, we provide better continuity of care.

A California where every family who wants doula support has access to a skilled doula in their community.
We’re building toward that vision one community at a time, with the goal of developing a trusted network of doulas serving families throughout all 58 California counties.

Our Founder
Dr. La Rae Banks, DrPH, MBA, CD (DONA) founded Yes I Doula with a vision to make high-quality doula care more accessible, coordinated, and responsive to the needs of families.
As a Doctor of Public Health and DONA-trained birth doula, "Dr. Rae" brings together maternal-health expertise, hands-on birth experience, and a systems-level understanding of our nation's health care system. Her work supporting families—including those experiencing high-risk and medically complex pregnancies—helped shape her belief that exceptional doula care should not depend on one person trying to meet every need.
That belief became Coordinated Doula Care™, a model that brings together prenatal, birth, and postpartum doulas with complementary expertise while keeping the family at the center of care.
Her vision for Yes I Doula is simple but ambitious: build a trusted network of skilled doulas so families throughout California can have knowledgeable support when and where they need it most.
